The Workshops During the month of March, 2002, students from the Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University participated in a series of workshops that explored Art, Design and the Olympics and preparation for the forthcoming Beijing 2008 Olympics.
Students discussed images associated with the Olympics from earliest times to present and viewed documentation of numerous Summer and Winter Olympic Opening Ceremonies.
Each participating student explored, in visual language, ideas and concepts of Opening Ceremonies for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Ceremonies.
Students considered the concepts of Greening, Traditional Chinese Culture, New Chinese Culture, and selected images, colours and text to express their personal ideas regarding Opening Ceremonies.
In the Fall of 2002, students from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design will participate in a similar workshop and will visualize their ideas for Opening Ceremonies for the proposed Vancouver Whistler 2010 Winter Olympics.
This bilateral project brings together students, faculty and other participants from Peoples Republic of China, Canada and other visitors to this web pages.
